RWS Geco Ammunition

mauser66, thats quick its 100fps quicker than stated on the box, i thought when at the range trying different makes they seemed a tad quick,do you think that the higher velocity helps stabilize them in the sako barrels(1 in 10 twist) whatever it is they are cracking rounds.

I know...the box says 2955fps so this was a real surprise. I am so used to ammunition being below manufacturers' quoted velocities. Not that velocity is everything..far from it, but the speed and performance gripped me.

My Sako is rebarreled with a Pac-Nor 1 in 9 inch twist. That should stabilise heavier bullets, but I have used 105gr bullets in 1 in 10" twist barrels in the past with great performance.
Here's some internet bumpf on GECO...

this review finds the velocity lower than 2955fps. The chrony we used is brand new and have been using it on several other rifles recently so we know it works. It was a cool day too and the rounds were at outside temperature. Who knows.... Each rifle is different.

if you can find them try them and see what you think

A Deer keeper I know uses RWS for his .243 and 7mm mag and rates it very highly.
The .243 is a 100g soft point and the 7mm I think is 140g.

I once managed to buy a few 105g from a local shop to me but never used them and gave them away.

Have just been out stalking and shot my first Roe doe with my Geco 105g in 243, she dropped on the spot at 140m. Very happy.
