Bl**dy hell Rich thats some weight for a munty, what you feeding them steroids a good weight here abouts would be low 30's head and feet of with the average being high 20's for a buck. be interesting to see pics when you get them sorted.

He's about 8lbs bigger than the biggest I've had, which was 32lbs larder weight (head & legs off). What I have noticed with the roe does I've shot this season is that they all seem to be carrying a lot of fat - the one I shot last Sunday was the biggest I've ever shot at over 40 lbs. Given the hard winter I was a bit surprised.

    Christ that's a biggun!
Very small antlers though for the time of year and such a big chap?
I suspect he may be really old and going back?
Would be interesting to see the teeth and maybe put an age to it.
I've shot many over 30 lb and some up to 35lb but never anything near 40lb.
Conversely, the Roe seem to be getting smaller!
I often go out now and shoot both Roe and Muntjac on the same day and find the Muntjac weigh more than the roe!!

LOL - we posted at the same time, me suggesting the roe were getting bigger and you suggesting they were getting smaller

Seems like the ones having the last laugh are the deer

I shot a fairly heavy munty buck in mid December; he was 28/29lbs larder weight. I was surprised when we weighed him as his antlers were fairly modest so I hadn't expected the weight.

Also I share Dom's observation on roe does (although mine is a sample of one shot in January) - it was in great shape with as much fat as I have ever seen in a doe. I shoot in the same region as Dom so maybe this is a local observation?

    Going
    more like gone
I estimated his age as about 11-12 years old going on the fact I know the animal and ground
just sometimes it takes a while to catch them off guard

Wow thats old!, on our main patch of Munty ground I think an old Munty is about 5, the Reds are the same very young population with massive body weights and heads!

He done well to evade you for 11 years!
