    Licence fees update from BASC

    Dear all,

    A very quick update.

    We went to the meeting yesterday with the GTA, NRA and Chair of BSSC.

    No change in licence fees is on the cards at the moment, more internal investigations by the HO and police are needed.

    I will post more later when I have the info, but please understand I am working away for the next few days – but any urgent development, should there be any, will be on the BASC home page.

    David

    Sorry!

    The meeting was with James Brokenshire, crime prevention minister

    GTA = Gun Trade Association - head is John Batley
    BSSC = British Shooting Sports Council - head is David Penn

    The minister was pretty warm to all of us, and the meeting went on for an hour, which is a ggod time for a meeting with a minister.

    The feeling of all who were there is that the issue of fees will not go away, so there is still much to be done frankly by all of us - shooters and associations, to lobby for a fair licencing system based on the HO guidance and ACPO best practice for all, and then, and only then lets look again at costs.

    HO = Home Office?
    ACPO = Association of Chief Police Officers?

    Is this another BASC test, or a free bowl of acronym soup?

    Sorry David, I couldn't help myself
