    Mounting problem

Hi all, I'm having a bit of trouble mounting a fairly good fallow head onto a shield. I've tried using the usual 'block-of-wood-and-araldite-in-the-skull-cavity' method, but because the weight of the antlers is high up and out at an angle its generating too much leverage and the alradite isn't holding. Any suggestions for a better adhesive or other method?

Fill the cavity with grip fill and put the longest screw you can through the shield into a plug into the grip fill , put some weight on it and leave to dry for a week

Here is a tip for lining up skull plates onto a shield.

Insert block of wood into cranium, and then secure in place with either hot melt glue , or car body filler. When dry drill pilot holes into the wood core.

Then put a tiny pinch of talcum powder, or chalk dust into both holes (you only need a tiny bit). Carefully turn the skull plate over, and very lightly lay it, in its correct finished position on the shield. Finally give the skull plate a light tap (whilst keeping it in its finished position) and remove. You will see that the talcum powder/chalk dust will have fallen out of the holes exactly where you need to drill the shield. No more guess work and holes exactly where they need to be to line up the skull onto the shield. Give it a go it works a treat!

Good tip Andy, I spent an hour messing about and pulling my hair out with the last one I did.
