    I personally think the reported move by the MSPs is both sad and species-ist. As others in this thread have pointed out, the domestic cat and grey squirrel are also examples of aliens, yet the huggers squeal at the slightest suggestion that they should be exterminated.

    Unchecked, muntjac will do damage, but then again unchecked all species of deer will do damage. It's not something muntjac have a particular monopoly on. In my experience here in southern England where we have a large population of muntjac, the species can be effectively managed as well as any other.

    The muntjac is not some Wyndham-esque monster about to overrrun the British Isles. To suggest otherwise is in my view silly and ignorant scaremongering.

    ...and as a subscript that occurred to me after I had posted, what does the British Deer Society have to say on the matter?
