Customised Lightweight Stalking Rifle - 308 Winchester

The scope is shown in the photographs is NOT included in the sale.

For the technically minded, the photos below show the four fired test cartridges prior to proof.

No marks on the cases - perfect chamber and absolutely central firing pin strike denotes barrel and chamber concentric to boreline.

    Test Target

1st shot, left hand edge - after scope ajustment three shots in an inch with Federal 150g factory load, cleaning after each shot.

    Specification

Action - Remington 700 (short action), fully blueprinted – action threads re-cut and trued concentric to bore-line, lug abutments trued, action face cut to 90 degrees to centre of bore-line. Bolt lugs trued, bolt-face trued, bolt nose trued. Bolt has had new extractor fitted and been stripped and cleaned.

Bottom metal / magazine – new Remington BDL floor-plate, spring and follower.

Barrel – PAC-NOR, Supermatch grade, Stainless Steel, 1-12” twist, 3 groove barrel, threaded for moderator to ½” UNF, with invisible end cap. Barrel is finished at 24” muzzle is .655” diameter.

Chamber - 308 Winchester, throated for 150g bullets, min SAAMI spec (suitable for factory or home loads) standard neck.

Trigger – regulated Remington unit set at 3lbs

Recoil Lug – Holland oversize stainless steel.

Stock – Mcmillan Hunter’s Edge Technology (lightweight) aluminium pillar bedded with Devcon steel epoxy.

    Rings / Bases – Leupold 30mm.

Accuracy – with Federal Classic 150g Hi Shock factory loads – 100 yds test group – 1” (barrel was cleaned after each shot)

I expect that with hand-loading, the rifle would easily reduce group size to ½”

The rifle weighs 6.5lbs minus scope.

Alot of effort has gone into preparing this rifle and it will be an excellent tool for anyone wanting a carry all day stalker, suitable for any UK deer species.

Should anyone require further details, please PM me.

The action was a donor I bought to blueprint and make something of, this is the result.

I though it would make a nice stalking rifle.

It is being sold, because thats the reason I did the work on it.

    James,

Dont take the bait, I am only having a pop, looks like a proper job and a real nice toy. (much better than than that 6.5x284 thingy).

you should however tell folk you do this for a living to avoid confusion.

    Hi Col

    thanks for the approval

I thought the description and photographs showed pretty clearly that I have done the work?

The ad has been passed via Admin.

It is indeed a very nice rifle - someone is going to get a bargain.

thank you, my wife does trim regularly

I try and do all my work to the same high spec I make my own rifles to - don't believe in shoddy work.

The rifle is now sold pending funds and FAC.

My thanks to those who viewed the post and inquired.
