    .223 for munties ?

I'm looking to use my .223 for muntjac until my .243 variation comes through. Anyone know what size grain bullet I could use ? Is it better to use a soft nose or FMJ ? I normally use 55g SP BT for most other stuff.

Use your SP's you shouldn't shoot anything other than a bit of paper with FMJ not at all suitable for live game.

Hornady, & those who hunt outside the UK, are not subject to the deer acts, only projectiles designed to expand predictably are ok for live quarry shooting.

I dont believe it's illegal, but a soft point would deform more, causing greater trauma and therefore hopefully a quicker kill. There is the potential for over pentetration with full metal jacket rounds passing straight through the target.
    Can anyone else elaborate ?

S**t !!! Thanks Tamus. I thought the law only applied to minimum bullet weights and muzzle velocities. Makes sense though, and I would want to use expanding stuff anyhow.
