    Breaking in a new barrel

I have bought a new .223. Is it still good practise to break the barrel in?
I've heard various views, ranging from "no you don't" to "cleaning the barrel after every round for the first ten rounds, then every three, then every ten etc for the first 100."
    Anyone got any ideas?
