    6.5X55 Factory ammo prices

Hi guys, how much am I looking at to buy 6.5X55 factory ammo because I cannot afford to get set up with home loading this year due to being new to stalking and just in the process of buying a rifle, scope and moderator,

    Gary,

Privi Partisan soft points in 6.5 x 55 are 12 in my local shop. If they shoot well in your rifle there is nothing wrong with them in my experience.

Last time I bought Federal soft points they were 35 for 20, but you might find cheaper.

Privis are worth a try even if just to run the rifle in.

Just noticed you're in Derby - the Countryman has a 6.5 x 55 as his personal rifle so they should have a reasonable selection.

    Cheers,

    Bob

Cheers guys, at these prices and the amount of rounds I will be shooting maybe it's not worth setting up reloading, Bob I'll nip down to Martin's at the countryman, the rifle is new and will need running in so I will start off with the Privi Partisan soft points,

    Kindest regards

    Gary,

If The Countryman don't do Privis, give Livens in Burton a ring and ask to speak to Nick Salt. Livens used to stock them and I can't see why they would've stopped, but it might be worth a call before you go over there.

Nick is Livens' rifle specialist. He works in the shop but also does load development and other stuff. He is very knowledgable and its worth popping in for a chat if you're over that way.

    Cheers,

    Bob

dependeing on the batch, privvy can be irratic groups, some are 3" some wheyyyyyyyyyyyyy all over , up down, up & around! Best go with something that you can rely on, why waste 15 on bad shooting, when its a job well done on 30 ! Lets face it how many you going to shoot ,on a stalk ?? 3 tops ??

I'm a firm believer in you pay for what you get, I think you're right and better to go with the higher end brands
