Thread: 30.06 zero range

    30.06 zero range

I will soon have a 30.06 rifle with some norma 150gr soft point rounds. I only have access to a 75 metre range for zeroing, what is a useful height for POI at this reduced 75m range.
    I zero my hornet 1" high @100yds

just over an inch high at 75 will be an inch high at 100 with factory ammo

Inch high at 75 will give you between 1 and 1.5" high at 100, zero at 180-190 and 4" low at 250.

Unless you are fairly accurate with the POI at 75, you could have some variation at range as +-.25" at 75 change the secondary zero from 170-200 yards. Taht should get you in the ball park anyway.

I don't know if anyone else uses this, but there's an interactive Java App. which opens up on the Norma website. The link for the English version is at:-

    http://www.norma.cc/default.asp?Lang=2#

If you don't use the standard Norma ammo programmed in, you can alter it to the bullet weighti/coefficient you use, change the zero range, velocity, and other variables to get your whatever answer you need.

    Give this a whirl - it's free
