    Working Cocker pups

Please see below a quick description of a litter my cocker has just had. One, possibly 2 dogs left, due to go end of may. Would love for them to go to working homes, or at least a home where some working will happen!! Pups are well socialised and kept in the house.

Excellent second litter from proven working bitch out of FTCh Danderw Druid. Sire is Wernffrwd Tomos of Mailscot out of FTCh Maesydderwen Scimitar and FTW Wernffrwd Blodwen.

1 Chocolate dog left, born 29 Mar 11. Legally D and DC removed. Pedigree ready for email on request. Please PM for price.

    Many thanks for looking.

I have to say that I was interested before reading that the pups have already had their tails docked. Maybe this should have been a decision for a purchaser to make?

It's interesting that MSP's voted a month ago against any exemptions from this practice for 'working' dogs. This legislation looks certain to be passed into law by the summer, and will put Scotland out of step with the rest of the UK.

Sinistral - perhaps you are unaware of the legislation on tail docking. The legal requirements usually mean the pups are docked between 3 and 5 days of age. This makes leaving the choice of docking or not to the purchasers some what impractical if not impossible.

Good luck with the sale Jinga, hope they find good working homes, there is something about cockers that make them such cracking dogs - even the wicked ones!!

Highlander - Many thanks, they are great fun both as workers and as family dogs.

Sinistral. Aware of the legislation and the mess it is in. THere was some hope the working dog exemption would be brought in, maybe post election it will be reviewed. Sadly that meant the bitch had to whelp in England and after a period of time she returned to Scotland. Paperwork all legal but what a pain....

Highlander quite right, if some of the litter going to hopefully be workers then all have to be docked. Only 1/3 removed which i feel gives a good balance of tail welfare and expresiveness. If customers don't like then there are plenty of unfortunate pups out there in Scotland with whippy tails.................

Jinga, I would never buy a cocker unless it was docked, got my Springer just in time, have to be docked well done.

Sinistral, when my Cocker had 6 pups I had 4 of them D & DC'd, the other two were for non working homes, now we are still in touch with the owner of one of the un docked dogs and his tail is constantly bleeding where he's banged it, it's almost bald on the tip and the vet has suggested an amputation, I wish that I'd had them all done now, can you imagine if this was a true working dog? The pain from the damage doesn't bear thinking about.
