    .222

Iv managed to aquire a tikka .222 for free!,I used to use one years ago with norma 50grain bullets.Since Im not into reloading, can anyone suggest a factory bullet mainly for fox's.Just testing the water as since I used normas the bullet menu out there seems endless.

Hi, before i started reloading i was buying norma with 40gn nosler BTs...Foxes dont get up again...Downside Is they are so bloody expensive IIRC around£34.00 per 20...hence the reloading, i have got it down to £33.50 per 20...Only joking,,,HTH

The privi partisan 222 50gn soft points shot well in my Tikka M55 and they are less than £10 for 20 I also had good results with sako 55gn soft points but they are now upto about £22 for 20. I now reload with 40gn V-max.

+ 1 for the Sako 55g gamehead, used them for many years in my Tikka M595 .222, last batch i bought last month came in at £19.50 for 20.

It has just had a new stainless barrel fitted by Steve Kershaw grate bloke to deal with & has given me some good advice on reloading.

Shootes even better than it did with the standeard barrel still keep a box of Sako 55g just in case i need them.

The cartridge was designed for 50grain bullets at 3200FPS so something similar should work well.
Gives an idea of what is about
Although you would have to swim a few lochs to get there.

I found Hornady factory 50gr V Max to be excellent, velocity was pretty good.

The Sako 55gr Gamehead is more of a Roe type cartridge, though it will obviously do a job on foxes.

Mine was very accurate also with 40gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertips, black box type, absolutely destroyed rabbits, generally no exit wound on foxes.

Honestly! Factory ammunition in a .222? Sacrilege! This is one of the easiest cartridges to make accurate loads for.~Muir

I know, that is where I started....

21gr Rel 7, any 50gr plastic tipped bullet, tweak the length.... job done.
