Considering his location I find it hard to believe he did not know the risk.

Think he is at the fanny. He lives in Appin and does not know about ticks and lymes disease and how to prevent it?

    My arse.

He is looking for a pension.

I can see both sides of the story, of course he knew the risks but he might win 80,000 or, more realistically, walk away with 10,000 which is 10,000 more than I have in my back pocket at the moment.

Another case that is waiting to happen is the one for hearing loss; I have been prescribed two hearing aids and the damage is in very specific bands that can almost certainly be atributed to rifle use. Now, my first employer did not issue me with any hearing protection (it was long before moderators) or recommend that purchased my own.

The consultant at the hospital says that I would have a very good case for compensation. Like a lot of people, I wouldn't dream of seeking a payment because its my own fault but, i'm not a couple of years from retirement (yet!) with no savings and about to be booted out of an estate cottage, I might be looking at things differently if that were the situation.

One thing that I have learnt over the years is that, whilst its very honourable to be a good, loyal employee; thats all you ever are, especially on private country estates, we are still the peasants, once you have moved on you are quickly forgotten.

I don't blame the bloke for having a go, it will be interesting to see the outcome.
