My first roe buck!

After a very exciting stalk I managed to bag my first ever roe buck...indeed my first male of any deer species!!! The shot was off sticks at 120 yards which was at my limit, but it was a good heart shot and the buck dropped a few feet from where I shot it.

The head is not anything special, but to me it is a reminder of a unique experience and I will mount it.

One of the antlers has a little velvet on it which is obscuring 2 of the points.

Can you please advise me on how to remove it.

Cheers,
Peri

Congrats on your first buck. I keep and mount all antlers I get, big, small, indifferent. Each one tells a story and reminds me of the stalk, good memories.
The velvet should peel off, maybe not in one piece but it will come off. Bear in mind the unexposed antler will be white and will need some colour adding to it if you choose.

Peri,

Well done indeed - it is a great head you have got there. A permanent reminder of your first successful buck stalk and a cracker at that.

Thank you all so much about your nice comments!

I might leave the little bit of velvet on the antler after all.

Cheers,
Peri
