Maybe Charlie saw a potential meal with a young muntie about!Perhaps mother was saying Fx orf charlie! Never seen a muntie linger about a foxes den! for long !! Lets face it she is on the menu. Mind a buck would defend itself in that scenario if it couldn't run away. Just a thought.

Last year at the end of the roe rut l was watching a roe just at last light in a stubble field and noticed a fox enter the field, what l observed next was very interesting, the fox ran up to the roe and a game of chasing and running rings around each other started each one taking it in turns to do the running while the other stood, this continued for a short while, there was no aggresion from either side they just looked like they was having fun.

Bill Oddie would love that, totally right up the Beeb's street, predator and prey playing together.

Seriously though, I would have loved to see that.

That reminded me of a tv programme about the arctic, when there was a polar bear playing with the sled dogs that were chained up outside. The sled driver(?) was sure that the bear would kill at least one of the dogs, and,he was amazed when the bear just started playing/rolling around with one of the dogs.Sometimes we(all animals)just want some interaction..........just a guess...........Martin.
