    Quail in the area

On one of my evening wanders tonight with little hope of seeing anything waist deep wheat, knee deep barley, chest high beans and rape.only place to see much is margins and farm tracks roll on start of harvest.
But I did here the distintive call of quail.whilst standing listening I was also lucky to see a doe and fawn pass 10yds away so i quiatly left the area.
How widely spread are Quail DO YOU HAVE THEM IN YOUR AREA

been in this part of Yorkshire for years one of my dogs caught one a couple of years ago, when flushed they fly about 3ft high and one dog flushed it the other caught it.first time I had held one.unfortunatly they migrate before the shooting season even then dont suppose they would be legal here.
