    .22 & HMR cleaning

Instead of bits of tissue paper or rag pushed down the barrel I buy a box of cigarette filters the one people use for roll ups cigs, they are the perfect size for bore cleaning you get plenty in a box and there cheap as chips

"Bits of tissue or rag" now cigarette filters!

It's true what they say then about Yorkshire men being careful with their money, copper wire - two Yorkshire men fighting over a penny.

I use the VFG felt wad system myself with the .22.

Gently squeezed down the length of the barrel with a 22 carat gold, diamond encrusted rod

I use an oily rag for the barrel and stock, never touch the bore.

To be perfectly honest John I only clean the .22 once or twice a year at most but always if the rifle has received a soaking. What I do use the .22 felt wads for is the .222r

    Mike,

I would only ever clean the the bore if accuracy was to drop off and I am many thousands of rounds short of that. The stock etc after a soaking always gets cleaned off but with regard to the bore following a soaking then a few rounds to heat and dry the bore and then stand in room temperature until the danger moisture has gone and then back in the cabinet. May not be text book but it works for me, and has done for years.

Forgot to say this is for my 22 LR

+2 .. I cleaned the bore on my Finnfire once and all it did was lose accuracy for about ten rounds before going back to normal (spot on)
