    one for the techies

just sorting out loads for my 22/250
    38gr h380 behind a 55gr softpoint bang on at 100yds
38gr h380 behind a 50 Vmax 3/4 inch high (understandable) and 1 inch to the right!!!
Why, what causes it, i would have thought it would be on the same line

Could be "precession" but I suspect it's the "magnus" effect.

If it's going faster and therefore spinning faster.

Depends on many factors though. Good luck with the replies that follow.

barrel harmonics the barrel doesnt stay still while it fires it moves in a circular motion ,so some loads release while on the down or up or left or right

The reason is 'Barrel Harmonics', the barrel vibrations depend on, bullet weight, speed, acceleration (different powders), whether there is an R in the month and many other things. The technical reason is that the loads are different!

SO!! in theory i should be able to load a bullet with slightly more (or less) powder which would release at a different point in the circle, and play around until i got the line right?

all i have to figure out now is , is the barrel on its way up or down when it releases

    Now that is technical.
