    Norma 6.5x55mm Ballistic Tips

Hope to be picking up a 6.5x55 within a few days. The only ammunition the dealer has at the moment is Norma 120 g BT's. I was wondering what the carcase damage is like with these - I mainly stalk roe & muntjac, and tend to go for heart/lung shots.

I've used these on fallow and roe with little/no damage to worry about.

    usually a solid round.

    regards

I use 150gr .308 Norma BTs home loaded infront of 42.8gr Vit 140 and have never had excessive meat damage. There are various previous threads on BT damage, see what you can find. Have fun looking

The nosler 120 bt's are the only ammo I ever liked in my 6.5x55, very good round.

I know a few people who Shoot the swede and they all use this bullet.

I shot a Roe (my only ever!!) earlier in the year with a 129g SST ballistic tip, close to max load at 70 yards. Had minimal size exit wound adn very little brusing...I was quite surprised actually.

Thanks for the replies. I'll pick up a couple of boxes and see how it goes.

Would be interested in how it goes with you. Perhaps you could post back on this thread with results sometime. I get a notification when email comes to threads i've subscribed to, so i can pick it up when you send it

    Have fun

Will do. I'll also let you know what they cost, as I think they will be pretty expensive.

They arent cheap, but they do the business. From 100m to 200m i get a drop of just 1 inch !

I always used Federal Powershock 140s SP's in my previous 6.5, which did the job well, but the local dealers don't have any at the moment. A flatter trajectory sounds good though, so I'm more than happy to try the Normas.
