    Cast roe buck last friday

    Shot this last friday in norfolk.


    and while removing the head in the larder the other antler fell off
    anyone else seen a cast buck yet?.

    Very early indeed and maybe a another sign of a shorter summer.Everything seems to be happening a wee bit earlier and maybe this bad winter will soon be here.Was the other antler easy to come off?
    Ok,just seen the bit below the pic about the antler coming off in the larder.

    ive not seen any cast yet but they are all in winter coat now. the bucks are still thin on the ground after the rut, has any one else noticed this?

    Yes but all winter coat and bucks now appearing in family groups ready for winter.

    Local farmers around here all reckon that everything is at least a month earlier than normal. Why not the deer cycle?

    John,

    Is that your 7mm RM in the photo. Did you shoot the buck with it.

    I had thought that mine would be too much gun for Roe, but maybe not.

    bob no probs on roe or munty just use heavy bonded bullets

    took a guy out yesterday from oxfordshire he was amazed at the buck he shot was in full winter coat and part of a family group he says when he left home last week bucks were still chestnut

    That does seem early, especially for a relatively young looking poor headed specimen like the one pictured. It may have been v. old of course?.
    Older bucks tend to cast earlier than young animals but even so, the beginning of october is v early.
