    What cal air rifle

Hello im getting a new air rifle but am wondering what is best to buy a .177 or a .22

the air rifle i will be buying is a theoben rapid mk2 or an s-type

but am unsure what the best caliber will be to get for rabbit hunting

    thanks

i prefere 177, flatter flying , better penetration ,22 has more stopping power though

    In FAC or sub 12?
If FAC I wouldn't doubt that .22 is best, in sub 12 then I would probably go for .20. Great rifles Theobens, I'm a big fan.

Thats what i thought a .177 travels faster but .22 travels slower but has a harder hit hard desission and the .177 uses more air but theoben has a 17 shot mag instead of a 12 shot mag.

does anybody know how many shots i would get from a theoben 500cc bottle using .177 and .22

they always used to say .177 for feather and .22 for fur

sorry i dont know about 500cc bottles but i had the same question a few years ago. i have a hw77 k in .22 you can hear a louder thump on rabbits with this over my .177 falcon. but the .177 is so accurate. im confident of shooting squirrels in trees where you can thread the flatter shooting .177 through branches and that is a very satisfying crack when you hit home. if i was only rabbit shooting and didnt have my .22lr i would have a .22 air rifle for rabbits. hope this helps.

Ive had 3 Rapid 7's in my time, all .22's and they say you will get roughly 400 shots from a 500cc bottle if its sub 12 ft lbs and a mk2. I had mk 1's and i could easy 250 rounds and would just fill it up after that as they were not regulated. I had one that was working at about 40 ft lbs depending the pellet and got around 60 shots. They are awsome rifles and i shot a lot of rabbits with FAC and none FAC, bisley magnums all the way. I wish i kept them all but i still have a Theoben Evolution and an SLR 98. Less wind deflection and more down range weight retained with the .22 but the .177 does have a place and i preffer it for birds, thats just my opinion.
