    First time FAC

I had a pistol ticket back in the day, which I foolishly allowed to lapse (I know, I know)
and I am currently in the process of going for my rifle ticket.
I remember the hoops from before I had to jump through, but I was wondering do I have to provide permission for everything I have applied for? I mean I have permission from BASC for 6.5 x 55 and 22.250 at Kings Forest. I unfortunately do not have land anywhere for 22LR! its for vermin.
    Any ideas?
I shoot pigeon at a local farm, but they don't need any more FAC ticket holders on site!
    You live and learn........
    .........or you don't live long

Of course you need land with permission for you to shoot over or be a full member of a club, otherwise what would be your 'good reason' for having one?

If you go down the club route then you wouldn't be able to have it conditioned for vermin.

Does being a member of BASC actually count as permission/good reason in the eyes of the Law ?

No. What you need is either nominated land which you own, lease or have permission on or alternatively an invitation or booking to shoot the intended quarry with the holder of these rights. It also helps if you are a club member to provide the required "good reason" for your rifle but you need the above permissions for the "expandable missiles"

Thats what I thought ! I spoke to FEO on this matter - showed him paid bookings to stalk etc - he said without nominated I land had no chance - he argued Estate Rifle facility was good enough - have been stalking a dozen times - shot a couple - phoned BASC on the matter - waste of time that was !!!

Then he needs to read and apply the relevant section of the HO guidance:

13.10 The named land need not be owned or
rented by the applicant, nor need they have
regular or automatic access to it. Farmers and
landowners may allow shooters to shoot on
their land, for payment or otherwise, on a
formal or informal basis. An applicant need
not always nominate a piece of land as
evidence of “good reason”, but in such cases
the applicant may be required, where possible,
to provide written evidence, for example from
a relevant organisation, a professional pest
controller or of a booking to shoot.

Absolutely correct, however membership of a rifle club as well strengthens your case, and gives your FLO less to quibble about eg "that you can make do with an estate rifle"
