    It finally happened..........

I`ve been on holday from work this week but i had to go to the depot on thursday to pick up the itinery for a course i`m doing in Chesire this week.
Whilst in the depot steve says "John, your van reg is VVK innit?"
    "Yes" i replied.
"Well you picked up a speeding ticket last week in Wareham"
"Bugger" i thought, 6 weeks short of 10 clean years of driving.
Oh well, no one to blame but myself.

There was a maths prof from some university in Wales that did some research into speeding tickets having just got one herself. Anyhow, her research demonstrated that your chances of getting a speeding ticket is entirely random - safe careful drivers who mostly try to stick to the limit were just as likely to get a ticket as totally nutters or as the safe careful driver who uses common sense and experience to judge when the limit has been set far too low and exceeds it in a safe way.

So, as you say, it had to happen some time even after many years of safe driving.

its a fact of life now. like death and taxes.
wouldn't even worry about it, insurers almost expect a few points now

If you're a chippy at some point you will get a cut. If you're a spark at some point you'll get a shock. If you do the miles at some point you will pick up some points. Unfortunately it's just one of these things. Can't do anything about it now so forget about it.

Will they give you the option of the speed awareness course instead of the points? (it will still cost you sixty quid)

I hope so. I`m still waiting for the paperwork.
The innitial lot goes to HQ then i presume they tell the law who drives that particular vehicle.
I`ll probably find out this week.

because it was seriously boring and i felt the course was the biggest waste of 4 hrs ive ever spent , it would be ok it they made it interesting and worth going to.

the guy who took the course i was on , treated us like we were all naughty school children and the oldest person at the course was 74 and the youngest 16 (caught on his moped doing 35mph down hill).

i mean maybe your course will be different , but i felt mine was a waste of time due to the guy taking it !
