    Tikka 550 magazine.

My keeper friend on the estate I manage the deer, has a great lad training to do a Job he loves. He's just been given a Tikka M55 in 22,250 MINUS the mag, anyone have a spare one for sale, or know where he cold buy one. I see in previous forum posts they are like hens teeth, are they still available, or can another mag be modified etc. Its a cracking little rifle, there must be a way to get it working O.K. markings on the rifle are TIKKA M55, also 550 s/n 224###, any help appreciated on this. deerwarden.

    Keep an eye down under.

I remember looking at this ad, and noticing the dimentions for the .22/250 magazines were slightly different.

Small point - I think the rifle is a Tikka M55; I have one in .308 and the s/n starts 550. Worth seeking out a mag, they're great rifles.

It is an M55 magazine you need. It's really a 2-digit model number, and the 3rd digit is for the variant (0) which indicates it's a standard '55.... odd, but there it is.

It's a 3-shot single-feed steel job, which can't be top-loaded I believe. As this could be confused with the later 590 (which are themselves rare now) you could re-edit your post title to locate an M55 ... which is even rarer .

A .243 or .308 will do the job. You sometimes see a Sniper M55(n) model in .308 for sale with extra 5-shot magazines. If you can get hold of one of these, it'll be better than nothing.
If I'm going to be accused of it then it's just as well I did it.

Just persevere with sifting through 10 pages of google searching. Works for me.

    Bejesus.

    They're 125 Euros, and a Euro is currently 86 pence sterling. That's 107.50 - plus post & packing - from Scandinavia.

Somehow I don't think you've solved his problem.

Agreed, no top loading. In 308 at any rate, they come in 3-shot (flush fitting) and five shot (protruding).

Good luck with the search. Maybe a magazine for 308 or 243 calibre might work?

I'm sure that a .243 or .308 magazine will work, so the search can be widened to include these.

I've got the 1987-88 Tikka Catalogue which shows the availability of (single-stack) 3-shot, and 5-shot magazines for .22-250, .243, 6mm Rem., and .308.

    It also lists a 10-shot single-stack mag in .243 and .308.

There is a differently configured magazine in 3-shot and 5-shot for .17Rem, .222, and .223 too.

Sorry, but the Tikka 'Part Numbers' aren't listed in this.
