I have been using hornady vmax 40grn 223 in my browning xbolt and have noticed lately that they are a bit tight on closing the bolt.Just wondered if anyone else has had same experience or maybe i have a dodgy batch
For the first 35 years of cleaning rifles I never bothered to clean the chambers of rifles, however this is something I now do. Have you cleaned the chamber of your .223 recently? There may be sufficient gunge accumulating in front of the shoulder of the case? The lug recesses may also need a clean?
This is where the magic happens! The chamber and breech should be cleaned all the time. You will even get brass filings in there after time. All it takes is a 1mm of foreign body build up and yes you will start finding it hard to close the bolt.
