    New Dog

Hi all, I've just got myself a new dog to add to the kennels, it's an eight week old Black Lab which I wish to train to track Deer, can anyone point me in the right direction of either some decent books or Dvd's etc or recommend a trainer in East Anglia (preferably Essex and surrounding counties), or possibly some personal advice.
I currently have a 2 yr old Ess which is used on our local shoot for beating and have a 1 yr old Cocker which is currently in training for the same, the Lab may well be used for picking up as it gets older but that's not the main reason for getting her. I cant abide the thought of loosing wounded deer but dont go stalking enough to keep a BMH or HPR fully occupied.
    Any help gratefully accepted.

    Mal

    Best books in English are:
Niels Sondergaard, working with dogs for deer
Guy Wallace, training dogs for woodland deer stalking or Guys, specialist gundog all good and informative reads
John Jeanneney, tracking dogs for finding wounded deer
A wee bit of insight into dogs noses as well,William G Syrotuck, scent and the scenting dog, this one i got informed about and couldn't put it down, very interesting, not so much about deer but still very interesting
Now if you can speak German, well the list is endless
Give me a shout if you get stuck

    An excellent list.

You might add two DVD's Borngraeber's "Die Schweissarbeit" and his "Das Verweisen". Although both are in German what they aim to do is pretty clear.
