Calling all antique gun buffs - what the hell is this??

I recently aquired from my grandmother an old mahonganny Westly Richards shotgun box. My father remembers the barrels being there 40 odd years ago and they were rather rusted old damascus 12bore barrels for the arts that had the pin going of to the side.

Amongst other artifacts in the box there is this as pictured below. It is stamped "10 James Dixon and Son, Sheffield, 1101"

Any ideas on what it is>? All guesses welcome!DSC02757.JPGDSC02758.JPGDSC02759.JPG

Thanks MO, it indeed appears to be. I've a few more items I'm not sure of but that one was causing a bit of confusion.

Cheers,
