I went to my gunshop to collect............

Some 9.3x62 ammunition that I had ordered and walked out with a Sphinx 3000 compact pistol and 1000 9mm FMJs.

The annoying thing is, is that I did want to get a new pistol, but in .45 ACP, such as a Glock 21. But as he had none in stock and I spotted the Sphinxs, I had to pick them up. Long story short, they are police guns from Kanton Vaud that are no longer required. They are pure steel and weigh about a 1.5 kilos, unloaded. The barrel looks very clean and relatively unused. We guessed that they have been passed up by lady officers for being to heavy. I will have to wait until the new year before I can shoot it, but I think the wait will be worth it.............

Not exactly. You need to apply for a "Waffenerwerbsschein" that is a permit to purchase a firearm. When issued, one can purchase up to three weapons at a time. It appears that the last time I bought some guns, I only bought two and not the three that I was entitled to! I rectified that today with this little beauty. ANd the best part is, is that I got it for less than half its normal price. I have a Glock 21 on order. As this pistol is very heavy for its size, felt recoil is negligible. I only wish Spinx produced a pistol in .45 ACP.

    Hi Si!

Pistols are allowed to be used for humane dispatch. Our babysitter uses a Glock 17 for humane dispatch when the need arises. It is common practise to bring a pistol whilst hunting.

Merry Christmas and all the best for next year!

A little over the top maybe, but effective!

    Did I really write that?!

What I should have said is that our babysitter, who also is a hunter uses a Glock 17 for humane dispatch whilst hunting. My children love her so I can only assume the best!
