A relative has one of CF's custom guns, a 6mm Ackley Improved, bought around 1991 ish. Absolutely Awesome rifle, wouldn't like to lug it around all day mind you!!! No problem clover leafing - even with standard 6mm Rem ammo before fire-forming!! Interesting to note that Border Barrels also now have off-the-shelf custom barrels ready made for improving delivery times -

You have entirely too much money so I'll send details and you can send me some of it That will relieve you some of the stress of choosing two barrels:-

I have used barrels from every maker in the list below.

If you are re-barrelling for a stalking, vermin, occasional range gun, then any of the makers products would be an excellent choice/

I include the following brands in no order of preferance:

    Border (both Archer and Cut)

    Bartlein

    Brux

    Krieger

    Lawton

    Broughton

    Shilen

    Rock

    Lothar Walther

    Pac Nor

    Pachmyre

    Lilja

The choice is varied, although you may struggle to get anything made in the US without paying additional export tax fees.

Border and LW have, and are excellent european choices....

For my own competition rifles, I only use Broughton.....

I went for a Border on my 7x57, its good to buy British but also in the event of a problem they're not thousands of miles away.

Hi K&A, having had a few custom barrels, for me there is only one choice "BARTLEIN" all the way, they shoot amazingly and clean so easily. 9 out of the top 10 shooters in the recent European F-Class championships used Bartlein barrels, that says it all.
