Thread: Dartford Warbler

    Dartford Warbler

Saw this fella for the first time down at Christchurch, managed a few shots before he flew off, fantastic looking bird, never realized the diversity of birds we have in this country till i started this photography malarky, and this one was on my doorstep.
Its population crashed in the 1960s, since when it has gradually recovered, increasing in both numbers and range, I think its numbers were down to just a few breeding pairs, even though still not common its good to see them making a come back, hopefully this mild winter will help them

Yes he is a smart looker the little fella, smart pics too.
Its easy to find that the smaller the bird the less it sits still and the more it flits making them tough to capture.

well its some good stuff from Canon

Canon 1D mk4 camera and canon f4 600mm lens, not these shots but I often use a 1.4 teleconverter for the smaller birds.
plus good tripod and wymberly gimbal

ps entertaining putting this sort of equipment in your house will cause divorce

Stunning shots of a difficult to photograph bird. Well done - professional quality in every way and better than most book images.

    Wonderful to see
