do these over-barrel mods mess with the blueing on the barrel they sit over?

They can do. What I do to stop this is put a piece of black insulation tape around the barrel where the plastic bush sits. This stops it marking it.

if like me your a bit fussy with these mods,

take the rear bush out and have a O ring fitted to the inside edge thus removing the possibility of the bush removing the barrel bluing.

    simples, and it works.

Don't know if I'm been thick but where does it fit, between barrel n bush and do you super glue it? Sounds great idea can show me by a pic.

the bush has a inner wall that the barrel would run through, so a good machinist can remove a channel in it to allow you to insert a oring thus preventing it from rubbing on the barrel,

i will see if i can find the picture of one i had done by Mckillop rifles for my steyr.

here you go, if you look inside the delrin washer, you will see the O ring, the channel needs to be deep enough to hold the o ring enough so that it does not move pr come loose,

place some grease on the o ring and bobs your uncle.

this will prevent the washer from removing the bluing/coating on the barrel when a moderator using a rear bush is fitted,

    thank you

    sorry steve,
