I bought a copy of his book "Learning to Shoot" when I was the uncoolest teenager in the world, and wanted to get into shooting, but didn't know anyone who did and lived in Central London. It turned out to be an important milestone on my journey towards becoming arguably the Greatest Hunter in Hammersmith (which isn't saying much). It was a guidebook for me, as I had no idea what to do, although admittedly all his advice about making friends with local farmers was pretty useless at the time (when there was no Internet: that would have made things a hell of a lot simpler!).
Many years later, he signed my copy at the CLA Game Fair. I'm genuinely saddened at his passing.
