    being left a gun in a will

    Hi All, if someone leaves you a rifle in there will, what is the procedure, does the rifle have to go to a gunshop once they have died until you have a variation put onto your licence? and what if you already have that caliber? and who signs the certificate showing it has changed hands

    Lodged with an RFD, OR, in some areas the executor is given a Temp. Section 7 Permit to allow disposal of any guns/ammunition: I have had direct experience of the latter option more

    Obviously if someone was in ill health and unlikely to be shooting again that may be a time to transfer things?

    Section 161 of the Highways Act 1980 (England & Wales) makes it an offence to discharge a firearm within 50 ft of the centre of a highway with vehicular rights without lawful authority or excuse, if as a result a user of the highway is injured, interrupted or endangered.
