    Tikka 595 or 590 What's the difference ?

As the title says what is the difference between a tikka 590 and 595 ? Are they both short actions ?
I am thinking of buying a 590 to rebarrel. Knowledge appreciated.
    Thanks Steve

    Hi Steve,

I have got a 590 in 243win, my understanding is that it has the same receiver as a 595 but a smaller ejection port - don't ask me why they did this. I have never compared it to a 595, but it is a great rifle and a 590 action would be a good base for a rebarrel.

as the other guy said the 595 has a larger open loading post over the 590.

the m590 action should be alittle stiffer if you want to use it as a build. both class actions though

I read somewhere that the larger ejection port of the 595 made unloading the chamber easier with a gloved hand.

You can't unload the chamber on either M590 or M595, as both share the same single-stack magazine. It's not possible to 'unload' by pushing the round back under the bolt or fishing it out, as you could on a staggered-box magazine.... if that's what you meant?

The only difference is that the M590 has a lozenge-shaped port, and the rounded edges were squared off for the M595 action.... there's no difference in the port length on either action, so one is probably unlikely to be 'stiffer' than t'other.

The lozenge-shaped port has come back in the T3. It's a styling feature without much benefit that I can see.
If I'm going to be accused of it then it's just as well I did it.

The Tikka 590 action has an enclosed top and full length grooves, the 595 has an open top the same as a Rem 700.
The T3 has reverted back to the closed top and full length grooves.

In theory it should be a little stiffer then.
