I have the Tikka M690 in 25-06, no complaints but have had 3 Steyrs only 1 was a good rifle the others had issues. Not Pro hunters I might add, but I have been put off the brand. Sako/Tikka would be where I would drift to.

the tikka m65 is older then the tikka m 690 and 695. i don't know much about the m65 action other then it is the long action of the m55

abit like the m690/5 is the bigger brother of the m590/5

this has a good bit of info on them all http://www.pmulcahy.com/bolt-action_..._spr-tikka.htm

No contest there - it would be the Tikka M65. Older but better made, and the bolt handle is easier to grip.
If it's the M65 Standard on sale near you it's a real bargain at that price.
If I'm going to be accused of it then it's just as well I did it.

Owned both, still have my Tikka M65 (also in 25-06). Absolutely no contest; the Tikka wins hands down.

The pro-hunter was built to a price, but the tikka was built when quality meant something. I even have a 25cal barrel sitting in the cupboard for when i eventually shoot it out.

Even more of a case to go with the TIkka.

That's the Tikka I'm thinking of. One of these pops up very rarely.

Personally I wouldn't give the Steyr a second thought. That might be because there are two different M65 Lefthand in my cabinet. There's always room for another.
