Unknown Bullets - any ideas ?

    Afternoon All.

Just after some help if possible...

I have just found a box of .30cal soft point bullets that were given to me ( I have .30cal expanding on my ticket ) but I do not know the maker. They are described on the box as the following :-

    .308 Winchester // 150 grn Power Points // Contents 250 Bullets.

The box is wrapped in blue tape, with a artillery cannon logo, and the wording `Howitzer Product`.

They measure up to .30 cal dimensions, but a makers name would make me feel happier - just so I know their origin.

    Thanks in advance.

    Neil.

Your heads are Winchester Power Points. Howitzer used to sell them cheap in bulk (years ago before we were more limited by the expanding ammunition fiasco.
I use them in both 308 & 243 calibres - Nowt wrong with them at all - A good accurate hunting projectile with good expansion properties without disintygration & were cheap as chips - I remember paying 7.00 per hundred for mine. - Those were the days!

Howitzer are the manufacturers. They still make bullets for 50cal, but an unsure of the rest of their range.

Howitzer Products was a company located at Besselsliegh Oxon and traded as 'The Bullet People' they folded around 1999.
I used to use their bullets and powders regularly as they were very cheap.
They bought bullets in bulk, Barrels at a time, from the manufacturer and then sold them in blister packs.
The ones you have are Winchester and are excellent bullets.
They were retailing, just before they folded, at 8 a 100, I only wish I could get my hands on some more.
They also sold .243 and .224 bullets made by Remington.

    PS.
    I've just found an old receipt for 600 .308 150grn PP Bullets at 54.64 + 5.95 Postage dated 28/04/98

    My mistake
Guess they don't still make 50cal bullets then. At least not since 1999!
Just a friend of mine still reloads his 50cal using them.

They told me they were going to stop selling powder so I bought all they had left and while I was there I bought 'quite a few' bullets too
It was shortly after that, when I tried to contact them, that they had packed it all in because of the hassle.
They may well be trading elsewhere selling other products but the warehouse/unit they were using is no longer used by them.
