    hi all,

    what head would you use for a 223 and a 222 for shooting small deer muntjac/chinese.

    50gr SP of some description, hunting bullets not ballistic types.

    yes mate i used 60gr Nosler Partion homeload but you would need to check this will stableliss in your rifle Remington 50gr Soft point also shot well just remember a lot of the (if not ALL) .224 Polymer Tipped projectiles are for Varmint or Target

    yes i have used some 55grn v max home loads in the 223 and where very accurate on paper.

    Good call but make sure you pick one of the thicker jacketed projectiles and not the varmit type soft points like the hornady SX or speer tnt, sierra blitz etc. A standard hornady SP in 55 gn or a 52 gn barnes tsx would be good choices.


    If your .223 has a faster 1:8 or 1:9 twist then try the 64 and 65 gn winchester or sierra Soft Points.

    Hi Chris

    A friend and I have used Sierra 55grn SP Gamekings in 22-250's which are obviously travelling a wee bit faster than the chamberings you mention. They have always proved accurate and the meat damage was acceptable. I would imagine a bullet like this would do well in your rifles.
