What scope for driven boar shooting

My mate is about to book up a trip and is wondering what would be the best scope to put on his 30_06.
Also any running boar ranges in the midlands?

Cyres, I am going to treat myself to one of these before my next pig trip:

Leupold VX3, quarter the price of an equivalent Euro "big-three" scope. This must be good enough for pigs in daylight, the specs look ideal. A non illuminated version is about 175.

I will risk the Visa for one of these over the summer.
    Brian.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you......

aweeman off here has a kahles 2.2-9x42 scope for sale. I have 1 of these and they are brilliant optics 30mm tube and big field of view, better then a leupold.
    pm him for details.

Bob, you are a bad man...

That is funny. On a serious point, the reticule looks quite useful, pity about all the green crap over the scope.

I asked a contact of mine in the states to make some enquiries about these for me the other day.
He contacted Leupold and was told they are not on general sale at the moment, just a massive advertising campaign but should be distributed 'within the next couple of months'.
Although I have a Schmidt and Bender Zenith 1.2-4x24 Flashdot, at the price these are, makes sense to have a spare, don't you agree

What rifle will he be using? Does it have iron sights already?

I have a Barska 1.25-4 X 26 euro 30 found it very good for close up driven boar. Obviously not as good as a Svoroski or any of the other "sexy" named scopes but it is robust and holds zero. I have shot alongside guys with expencive scopes and killed as many as them. The only adventage with expensive scopes is the clarity in bad light.
