Once it was back from the proof house I took it down the test range and shoot it a 100m

The first 3 round group did this:-

I shot it again with another 3 round group to double check:-

All the other groups were in the 0.2's

Kind Regards

I take it that's stock the new A3 hunter version with the dropped heel? I really fancied one for a custom build but assumed the wait would be considerable. Did you have to order and wait or were they in stock? Very nice bit of kit by the way...

Hmmm,

Very good, bit of free advertising going on here me thinks!!! What say you??

Engineering aside, (this being at the absolute pinnacle of what is best!)... for me the first thought that entered my mind when viewing the pics was, UGH!, looks like one of those guns they used to stick on the bulwarks to repel boarders!

It must be in the eye of the beholder. To my eye, that is XXX rifle porn !!!

Best of luck with it Rob.

Cheers,

Bob

I had a similar barreled action built a few years ago as a demo rifle , went with a heavy profile short barrel (18'' 6) profile to make it look a little different as it was the very first Predator action i imported. I was going the other direction to Mikes concept thought the idea was for light bullets and quick powders , the short stiff barrel giving room for use of a mod with out the rifle getting too long.

1st picture is when it was first put together the second when it was put into a A3 stock.

What action is it based on? What barrel does it have on it? What exactly is it? Is it a rifle which is an 'off the shelf' accurate rifle or a cost effective way of having a custom or semi custom rifle? What sort of money do they retail for? Be interested to see performance out at extended ranges with 5 shot groups.

Hi Ian,

This might be of interest to you, the concept is the same:-

If you'd like to see it shoot to 1000m plus that can be arranged.

Kind Regards

Rob

...but 18" barrel and 1000m capability does not quite add up in my book...

Ian.

I was wondering about this also - am I mistaken to have a 30" tube on my target-rifle? My understanding is that to remain supersonic at 1000yds you need to launch 155gr at about 2950fps, and I'm not sure that I could do that with a foot of barrel less.

hello gents, noticed the comments about 18 inch barrel not being 1000 yard capable. well the Ratel which is built on our own action is a 1:10 twist barrel and is optimised using 175 or 180 grain bullets at 2500 fps. a 175 grain bullet at that velocity duplicates the venerable 303 round but in this instance in a package under 40 inchesd overall length.( no one ever said that the 303 was not a long range cartridge, and this DUPLICATES the ballistics of the 303 ). the prototypes were tested in africa and dave our good freind and test pilot was hitting rocks in the orange river at 1100 yards. A vervet monkey was smacked at over 900 yards . at close range none of the large animals stood against the 180 grain bullets , but the rifle is equally at home with lighter bullets. The barrel bore dimensions are to our specs and the chamber reamer is also ground to our specs.
You DO NOT need a light weight ie 155 bullet at 2950 to shoot a 1000 yards. the bullet starts fast but being light bleeds velocity fast. the heavier bullet with the higher BC although starting slower bleeds speed slower. Everyone that has had a Ratel loves it and they rapidly become the go to rifle. They are only made in one caliber and one configuration now. It just works!!!! yours respectfully Mike Norris Brock and Norris custom Rifles
