Training for steadiness in a dog.

Ok folk I used pen of poults for training or conditioning dogs for game, what method do you use for getting your deer dog to sit at the base of a Highseat when a beast walks close by? I understands the basics of sit, down and stay and making it rock solid but how do I fabricate a deer walking past?

Getting a lab to stay is a hell of a lot easier than getting a springer/cocker to sit still for extended periods.
Does your GSD stay out of sight of you,ie can you drop him and leave him there for 20/30 minutes at a time,if you can do this and he is obedient there is no need to fabricate deer walking past.
The dog should do as its told, simple.
Practice it with your dog where there is deer and let him off with nothing
