    When you think about it, it is quite refreshing. I heard a radio report and also read in the papers that the outcry has been over the insensitivity of timing, rather than hunting elephants per se. A number of people were interviewed on the radio (think it was Monday night riving home from work) and they all said that it was perhaps not the best time due to the severe austerity, but not one that I heard complained about it being an elephant hunting trip.
    You can't imagine that here. The moral indignation would be elephants first...

    Anybody seen how many elephants there are in Botswana! They need reducing for the sake of the other game. Have to agree though people in this country would want "the balance of nature" to do the job!

    If the King of Spain finds his life of wealth and privilege an embarassment he could abdicate and give away what he has. As for the elephant safari this sort of activity undoubtable injects a great deal of wealth into local economies, feeds hungry people and is nothing to apologise for.atb Tim

    Must have been pretty tame for it to pose before they shot it.Rather unsporting.

    maybe it was already booked and his Travel Insurance didnt cover "Cancellation due to Economic Crisis"....

    Or... He insured through Santander and thought the claim would be even more of an issue
