First buck of 2012 and christened the new rifle!

Was in a plantation a week or so ago and noticed some fraying damage on some of the trees, so i took a mental note to go back and sit up for the buck. Went down there this evening and had a good look for him and found the bugger fraying some trees! Had to jostle around to get a position on him and waited for a broadside. Must have sat there all of 5 minutes until i took the shot.

First deer down with the new rifle and one that I'd deliberately gone out for as well! Usually takes a while to bag a targeted individual, had him within half an hour of leaving the car!

Bloody shame though, he's not too old. Needs must though in this game.

After waiting as long for the variation I'd say 30 mins was good going well done Nick.

Good point mate, he was literally 130 yards from the boundary, there's a piece of set aside ground i call the nursery and it holds a lot of the deer that come into that area of the permission.

The rifle is an Accuracy International AW in 7.62x51 and is 56 inches long with the mod on! The barrel itself is 24 inches long and I'll be changing that for a 20 inch fluted in the next year or so.

It does look unwieldy, but it carries nicer on the shoulder than my Sako 85 with a T8 can which always wants to slide down with the weight of the mod
