    Mincer/Sausage Stuffer

Seen this mincer/sausage stuffer on ebay & wondered if anybody has seen/used one before?
Its cheaper than buying 2 individual pieces of equipment, but it does make me wonder as to the quality.

Is it worth the 142 notes?

I agree with sauer. You need control when stuffing the skins - and blade quality not always good on these home grinders; they tend to clog/jam easily.

Another point is that some sausages benefit from a combination of coarsely cut meat and minced meat. You have to have separate mincer and stuffer for this, but the extra texture is really worth it. My vote goes certainly for weschenfelder. Not cheap but really good gear.

I have a buffalo mincer and stuffer. Absolutely fantastic mincer and never had any problems with the stuffer. For just under 100 great piece of kit.

I had a similar machine which bust very very easy.. It had only done about 30lb of mincing and 20lb of stuffing before the internal gear stripped, and it started slipping under load. This time round my wife has a kenwood Chef proffesional so Im going to buy the mincer/ stuffer attachment. The internals are metal so it should be a bit tougher.

You need to get seperate mincer and stuffer mate as the combi ones are useless! They don't mix the mixture well enough and there is no control over the stuffing speed. Get a decent powered mincer, it will save you a lot of time and the meat stays cool. Then put it through a manual stuffer. There's some great bit of equipment for home use here:

A 1Hp motor mincer that does 80kg/Hr is enough for most home use!

If you're just looking for a cheap 'n' cheerful mincer/stuffer anyway, then what you're looking at doesn't look too different to this http://www.amazon.co.uk/Andrew-James.../dp/B0063CF80G for half the price, and comes with everything that the 'gastroback' seems to have for grinding/sausagemaking. I've got one of these, and although it's clearly built to a price and makes a bit of a din, it works just fine for what I need for home use. I've made some bloody good bangers with it, and also cured sausage such as salami and chorizo.

As with most things, it comes down to cost versus benefit. Whilst it would undeniably be nice to have professional mincers and stuffers, I'd rather make my perfectly good sausages with my modest kit, and spend the difference on stalking.
