    Exclamation Blaser R93 hard case

Hi fancy getting a hard case for my Blaser R93 - have had a look for a type B case but they are like rocking horse sh*t!
So have been thinking of using a Peli case

Question is: which peli case and where from???

    Cheers

    You'll be wanting a Peli 1700 then: http://www.eurooptic.com/blaser-r8-p...l-package.aspx

I bought both of mine from eBay - like this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Peli-Case-...item35bc386efa

I can get the foam from a place in Edinburgh.

The way to do the cutting is by a special hot-wire cutter - I found the plans for it on a USA website as they have a whole thread on it devoted to Pelican case layouts, up to 70 pages of info last time I looked

    I have a couple of 1700 cases & a 1750 - now looking for a 1720 for my LTR

EBAY US is way cheaper than the UK site - a good 2nd-hand one will do the job

The PLANO cases are also worth a look....

I have the Blaser case, it is the single rifle/barrel one. It is OK but over some time I eventually came to the conclusion that it was not robust enough for air travel - I had a bad experience with a fishing rod in a metal tube that they managed to destroy in a manner that I couldn't achieve with a sledge hammer and and hour of hard work.

I got a local musical flight case type chap to make me up a case suitable for transporting my Blaser. He did a good job and made it exactly to my spec. He is a friend so I told him I wasn't looking for a nice finish etc. as I didn't want it to look too important. However, he made it very robust and very light so that it meets with the extra 12kg weight that some airlines give you when you book a firearm with them. With rifle, mod, sling, scope, bipod etc. the whole thing comes to just under the 12kg. I tell everyone that I'm carrying bagpipes in it, no one in their right mine wants to steal bagpipes:

You can buy the foam over the web. I bought mine here: http://www.waterproof-cases.co.uk/pr...-set-for-1700/ but there are plenty of places. I cut the foam myself - it doesnt look as professional as the other link I posted but it more than does the job. I played around with the positioning of all the components (stock, barrel, scope, mod, bipod, sling, etc) until I came up with a configuration I was happy with, then just cut around them with a sharp Stanley knife.

Sadly I don't have a photo and I've since sold the scope I had (an IOR) so need to re-cut some foam for the new setup.

The Peli case is tough as old boots - you won't be disappointed

That's a much better idea. A quick Google search turned up these:
