how much do you charge for venison ???

just a quick one lads, the last deer i shot i made alot of burgers with it.

ive bagged 6 good size burgers(1/4lb sizish) per bag.

what price would you charge per bag (6 burgers)to friends of friends of friends ???

I normally go for 1/burger, but I hate doing it as that is only due to the costs and time involved in making them, I prefer to keep them for myself to enjoy! But I looked at what decent beef burgers were from butchers etc and came to that sort of price.

I only aim to cover costs so for Roe stewing meat i sell for 2 per lb, mince is 1.50 a lb and nice roasting/tenderloin about 3 per pound. Nearly always rounded down though.

Dave. Do you mean before or after you - register with your Local Authority as a food business...?

Jinga you are blowing your brains out charging the prices you are . You could take your carcass to the game dealer who would give you 1.20 per pound with the coat on . To produce the burgers you have to hang the venison , skin it , get rid of the waste, joint it , mince it , press it , pack it and and then probably have to deliver the burgers .If you doubled your prices it might just be worth it . I checked the price of fillet /loin steak at our butcher 24 per Kilo !

    A large pie
    6 steaks
    4 1/4 llb burgers
    6 square sausage
    1 saddle fillet
costs me 15 in fuel so that's what they pay me.
Comes to the same price as using a game dealer but i do like to give the public a good deal and introduce a few to venison.
