    Norma vulkan 156 gn - 270

    Hi all 270 users

Has anyone got any load data for the Norma 156 gn Vulkan in 270 win?

I can fine some about Nolser 160 grain using RL19 53,5 grains - was thinking of backing it off 10%

Ideally RL22 would be my preference

Any assistance will be received with thanks

    Roecall

I would just start with minimum loads for a 150gr bullet of similar shape, maybe start a grain or so under the 150gr minimum charge.

The problem with Alliant data is that it just seem to give one charge weight rather than a min-max range.
    Brian.

Just because you are paranoid, doesn't mean they aren't out to get you......

Thanks for the advice, I'll try just that, I checked Quick Load but it doesn't list the 156 gn Vulkan

I agree the Reloder data is a bit vague - having said that it's not too bad a powder - RL22 covers off three of my calibres, RL15 the other!

Sako use N160 in their .270W 156gn Hammerhead factory load - I can't remember the exact powder weight but can pull and weigh one for you later if you want. RL22 has a similar burn rate to N160, so should be OK at similar charge, with the usual caution!

    Adam.

    Hodgdons #26 lists :-

    Reloader 22 with 160 grain bullet start = 52.0 ......................... max = 56.0 grains.

Thank you Brithunter - Nosler do some 160gn semi spitzers so I may back the load off a bit to see whats what.

  7. #7
Thank you, if it's not too much problem I would like to know the charge for the Sako rounds - viht powder measures well!

i've just pulled a Sako 156gn Hammerhead round and it has a charge of 52.5gns of N160 - hope that helps.

Quickload didn't list the Vulkan so I loaded the nearest
I also loaded CIP instead of SAAMI,CIP has a lower pressure threshold.
