Securing a Free Standing High Seat?

    How do you do it?

I want to get a couple of Free Standing high seats onto my ground, my Dad knows where I want to put them so he will erect them for me while I'm away, the problem being, if I splash out and get these portable ones that are upto the job and not that intrusive, how do you stop them being nicked?

    Cheers

I usually fasten them to the tree with a ratchet strap. Then use a length of chain in a decent thickness with an armoured padlock to lock the seat to the tree.

It's not totally thief proof but it provides a good bit of an obstacle to anyone trying to take it, and it doesn't cost that much to do.

    Stu,

I got a recovery mechanics spike with the loop on top, welly it in to the ground leaving only a few inches sticking out. Put a Motorcycle chain through the loop and an Abloy Padlock or similar then welly the spike in so it is under the ground and there is nothing to get hold of it with. If it is a permanent fixing weld a few cross bars in on the spike and concrete in place

PS you will be pleased to hear it is not too hot out here yet

Wait until the end of next month Bud, it's like someone turns the oven upto 190'C.

If I can, I'll catch up with you over there.

Stu: use fencing wire loop four strands round the top of each corner of the seat on to a fence posts well hammered in to the ground put a bar through the middle of the strands and wind it up thats the cheapest way using ratchet straps is excellent but people like to steal them you turn up stalking its like trying to climb up a bouncy castle
