Long barreled pistols for club use ?

Long barreled pistols for club use ?

Anyone out there got the lowdown on this?

It was my understanding that only the certificate holder may shoot a long barreled pistol

I don't have the full low down, but many members of a local club shoot long barreled pistols and revolvers and you are correct - only they or FAC holders with a variation for that firearm can shoot them, no-one else.

That's correct, they fall outside the exemptions that allow club members to shoot club firearms and other members firearms. Similar legislation applies to section 1 shotguns. Therefore a club cannot have either long barrelled pistols or section 1 shotguns on it's club certificate.
There was some sort of test case fairly recently which the shooters rights association was involved with and as a result there may just be some changes made to the legislation at some time in the future but don't hold your breath.
It's the calibre of the shooter that counts not the calibre of the rifle.
