If you're like me, a free and easy life living in the back woods with nothing but your rifle and a nice little cabin to kip in is your idea of heaven on earth.

Have a look at this little website and see how some folk round the world turn their dreams into reality. I warn you now, you'll be green with envy! The name says it all!:D

we already do .....well a park home on the shoot lol .but i will be honest with you its the best home ive ever lived in 2oo yrds from my main pen cheap to live in ,built a boot room on the side ,and as we dont have a mortgage on it i sleep better at night too:D

i lived in a log cabin just outside Memphis, Tennessee for 6 weeks back in 1998. The land lady warned us to stay away from the long grass because of snakes and whe used to mow the lawn with a pistol loaded with .410 cartridges. The bugs were huge!

right now it sounds very attractive, log cabin in the middle of the woods somewhere in canada or alaska, or wherever "civilization" is likely not to find or bother you!!!

David Brown, a SD Member lives in Cannich, his house is beautiful, he also has this as a holiday let.

I was there in 2009 for a few days, peace and quite, nothing but wilderness. Red, Roe and Sika on your doorstep (Litterally).

Very Nice indeed

It was great, stags were roaring all around it, but it wasn't a cabin!

Some great hide outs here. Just come back from Nova Scotia last week where there are loads of hunting cabins way out in the woods. No people to bother you and some lovely lakes to canoe. No cabin but here's a picture of my little camp on a 2 day canoe trip. We love it out there and hope to buy a piece of cheap land to retire to build our own cabin. We already live in a little cabin now on our land like Norma no mortgage no debt and good sleeping. Its not posh but we love it. It's only all them people and pressures outside that spoil it.View attachment 16239View attachment 16240

Awesome,

Those Bear proof tarps get thinner and thinner nowadays!:D

Sure do. Many people warned about the bears but as they only get black bear in nova scotia I was not too worried. To be honest I'd rather see the bloody thing before I get eaten. If any you guys want a holiday and like the outdoors and getting away from it all I would highly recommend Nova Scotia. Not too many of you though I don't want the place flooded with Pom's by the time I get a place.

yeah Canada's the place. ive 11 years of rumaging around the country now and hopefully will get some land bought in the next 5yrs. might have to find a cave as my cabin building skills range from sh1te to non-existant!!!

Not been on the mainland. What are your impressions of some of the different parts? I go to NS as I've friends there but would be interested on which area's you find best. Hunting in NS a bit restricted, New Brunswick and Newfoundland are much better from what I see.

Brilliant. Makes my 25 year old caravan in the wood look a a bit sad.

Iv done a tiny bit of BC. And we did 3000 miles touring about in Ontario which is a fantastic place. We'd plans to go to Newfoundland later this year but ended up booked on a whole family holiday. Anyone done Newfoundland.

Matt.
