    Deer Warning Signs

Does anyone know what the criteria are for installing road side warning signs for deer or is it a random decision made by the local authority or Highways Agency?

I think you also need planning permission for a perminant sign, that's why you see loads of Arctic trailers parked in farmers fields along the motorway advertising their service, you don't need planning for a trailer.....

The signs are actually warning of wild animals, and installation is usually based on incidents - this is a local decision by Highway Authority staff.
